Materials: (see 8th grade supply list)
Students should bring the necessary materials from their supply list to class every day. Every day students should have their 3-subject notebook-which should have their organized notes, homework, classwork, worksheets, etc either glued, stapled, or taped into their notebooks. They should also have pencils, pens, highlighter and coloring tools (colored pencils, crayons, felt pens, etc).
Assignments:
Homework – Students will be assigned homework on a regular basis, it will be posted on the front board and is the students responsibility to write it down in their notebooks.
Quizzes – Students will take quizzes throughout each Unit of study, quizzes will focus on content and will be in the form of multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blank, or classroom activities.
Test – Students will take tests at the end of each Unit. Units that are longer than others will be broken up into 2 tests
Work Samples – Students will have a variety of work samples collected and graded on a regular basis. These could be labs, bell-ringers, or anything other than a test or quiz.
Projects – Students will work on projects throughout the year related to the curriculum to enhance their learning along the way.
GRADING Breakdown:
60% Assessments: Tests and Quizzes
30% In Class Work Samples: Includes but not limited to--labs, bell-ringers, projects, etc.
10% Homework
Expectations :
1. Students are expected to follow all Moore Square Middle School rules, as well as established classroom rules and procedures.
2. Eighth grade is a critical time when students are developing skills that will be used throughout their time at their high school.
3. Students are responsible for their learning, please do not hesitate to ask questions, or seek out help.
